The Lady Knights Journey: Built, Not Bought
 

❄️ Winter 2024 — The Dream Begins

It started with a conversation.
A vision.  A “what if we really do this?”
 

In the winter of 2024, plans were set in motion to give girls in our community a real shot at the game. When it came time to pick a team Liandra chose the Commanders, her favorite team, and just like that, the journey officially began with under the lights in Wake Forest alongside coach Garrick and Coach Brittany. 
 

We brought three athletes from the Knightdale family:
   •    One who had aged out of tackle football
   •    Two connected to Knightdale players
 

None of them had significant flag football experience.  All of them had heart. They didn’t come in as stars. They came in ready to work.

🏈 Spring 2025 — Baptism by Fire

Then came the rest of the roster, twelve additional athletes, most of whom had never played before. For the majority their first practice was the same day as their first game.  Let that sink in.  At the time, the league combined middle and high school divisions, while our roster leaned heavily elementary and middle school. We were younger. Smaller. Brand new to the sport.
 

And yes…
We finished last that spring season.  But here’s what the standings didn’t show:

✔️ Girls learning positions on the fly
✔️ Confidence growing play by play
✔️ A team becoming a family

They shocked everyone by battling into the second round of playoffs, facing the #1 seed. They didn’t win that game, but they walked off that field different than they stepped onto it.

They believed now.  And the coaches?  We couldn’t have been prouder.
 

☀️ Summer–Fall 2025 — The Work Nobody Sees

While others took breaks, the girls kept grinding.  They trained.  They learned the game.  They built chemistry.

Most of that original team stayed together not because it was easy, but because they had fallen in love with the process. And when fall arrived, they stepped onto the field with a new identity.  They were no longer just a team.  They were the Lady Knights.

👑 Fall 2025 — The Redemption Season

Same league.  Same opponents.  Very different story.

The Lady Knights didn’t just improve.  They swept the season.  Zero losses.

Then came the playoffs, where they delivered what may go down as one of the greatest comeback seasons in girls flag football history.

What changed?  Not luck. Not talent alone.

❤️ Love for each other
💪 Dedication in the offseason
📋 Coaches who believed before anyone else did
🚗 Parents who sacrificed time, travel, and energy

This wasn’t an overnight success.
This was built brick by brick.

🚀 Now — Season 3 and Still Rising

Now the Lady Knights are preparing for Season 3.

But this chapter isn’t about proving people wrong anymore.

​

It’s about:
🌟 Developing leaders
🌟 Growing confidence on and off the field
🌟 Mentoring younger athletes
🌟 Building a program that lasts

 

The Lady Knights are no longer just a team that surprised the league.  They are a standard.  A sisterhood.  A legacy in the making.

And the scariest part for the competition?

They’re still getting better.
